September Pre-High Holy Day Update

Here is some of what is happening:

* Second Day Rosh Hashana - Sunday Afternoon, September 24 - We arehoping to do a pot-luck lunch, go to the Hackensack River at the Van Steuben House todo a symbolic casting away of regrets for the last year (Tashlich), and possibly do a friendly visit to the Prospect Heights Care Center. There will be time for the kids to play, and for everyone to socialize.

* Recalling our Winter Maple Sugaring and Spring Hikes, it has beensuggested that a Fall outdoor nature related activity be organized -maybe around Sukkoth. Is anyone interested ? Possible activitiessuggested include Apple Picking, Tenafly Nature Center, Flat Rock, orChestnut Ridge. Contact me if any of this appeals to you.

* Local synagogues have been designating the following assome contacts for those seeking to support Israel following thissummer's war: UJA Federation of Northern New Jersey, 111 KinderkamackRoad, River Edge, NJ 07661 - "Israel Crisis Fun"; Magen David Adom(ARMDI); www.afmda.org.* Know of anyone you feel might be interested in our activities, or atleast be included for email updates ? If so please let me know.

* Looking ahead to November we are hoping to do our first "Shabbos Together" - Date and activity still to be determined. It may beour semi-annual Shabbat Pot Luck Dinner & playdate or our first Shabbos Together at an area shul. More to come.

* Also, looking ahead keep an eye open for "Ask A Rabbi", "Why Be Jewish" and "Ways to Be Jewish" - all hopefully starting soon.

Best wishes for a Happy & Healthy New Year to you and your family.
