Shavuot Family Traditions
Growing up, Shavuot got short-changed.
As a kid we went to the Bronx to visit my Grandparents and remember going to services along the Grand Concourse. But as often it was mainly a holiday of blintzes and recalling the giving of the Torah. For some reason it was not treated the same as Sukkot or Pesach.
Was your experience similar or different ?
On our companion blog, we have opened up a discussion about how one might make Shavuot family-friendly. There is a parallel question about whether Jewish observance is any different for you during the summer. To weigh in go to: http://www.acommunityofparents.blogspot.com
By the way, hope your Shavuot is a festive one (If you're doing the all-nighter, good luck).
